October : Spain Roadtrip and Crowdfunding

Hey, you!

Grab a cuppa, because I've got to tell you about October. Seriously, last month was a blur of raising 💰, driving 4K kilometers, filming, getting to know the community better and a little R&R.

I kicked the month off with my backside screwed to my chair while preparing the crowdfunding campaign : setting up the website, sending emails, preparing social posts, and getting that video just right.

And honestly? Your support has been incredible. Seeing the pledges come in and hitting 14% of our goal was heartwarming– a HUGE thank you to every single one of you who chipped in! You're making this film happen, truly.

With the crowdfunding launched, we packed up the camper and headed south to sunny Spain 🚍☀️.

First stop: Alicante, where I got to film with two absolute rockstars. There was Nicoline from Footwearology, who took us into a fascinating trip into the future of shoes, and Victoria, CEO of Sambas the Bambas, right in her factory. Meeting her passionate team at Atelier du Soleil and seeing such conscious, foot-friendly shoes being made was just fantastic.

We also got to meet and hang out with Dan The Man from b2barefoot UK and we had so much fun yapping about all things feet and shoes.

And during this trip I learned some mindblowing facts about an even bigger disconnect between the industry and the foot than I even imagined. You guys, it's wild. I can't spill the beans yet, but prepare to have your socks truly knocked off when you see this film.

After all that filming intensity, we totally earned a few days of glorious downtime on a beautiful beach near Murcia, just the sound of the waves and our feet in the sand. It was the perfect moment to just... breathe. And maybe let all those new ideas marinate.

Next, we swung by Madrid. While Rehouven jetted off to Sweden for a conference, I settled in and had two of the most fascinating days of my life. Seriously. So many brilliant researchers, podiatrists, and barefoot brands found me after the crowdfunding launch, and the conversations just flowed.

Now I'm back home in 🇨🇭 buzzing with all that new information.

The immediate plan? Get all that amazing footage from Spain organized (it's called 'derushing' in film-speak!) and onto editing these two segments.

And of course keeping the course with the crowdfunding efforts – we're not done yet, every little bit helps us reach the finish line.

Support the movie

So, October flew by. It was loud, it was learning-filled, and it showed me just how powerful this community is.

Thanks for being part of this bonkers, brilliant journey.

More updates (and tea!) soon!

Love 🥰,

Dee
